Treatment is generally performed under local anaesthetic, though for more complex and lengthy cases, we may advise general anaesthetic. Dr Samir will create a tiny incision around the nipple, and depending on your unique case, one of two methods will be used. Liposuction is used to remove fatty tissue or glandular tissue, and any accompanying loose skin is removed.

Post-treatment, you should refrain from heavy lifting and strenuous exercise for several weeks.

Post-treatment, the size of your breast area will be noticeably reduced from the moment your surgery is complete. Once healed, you will have a natural-looking contoured, firm and flat chest.

Gynecomastia is the clinical term for male breast enlargement, which occurs due to the expansion of the glands, though in some cases, it is caused by cumulative fatty tissue. There are multiple causes of the condition; hormone imbalances can occur due to liver disease, testicular disease, use of drugs such as steroids, puberty, weight gain, and obesity. It is extremely rare for gynecomastia to be caused by cancer.

Many patients are able to return to work after 2 to 3 days, though it may take up to 3 weeks to begin resuming a fitness routine – we recommend easing into this gradually.

Treatment is permanent as long as you maintain a healthy and stable weight. You should also refrain from substances that are proven to cause gynecomastia, such as steroids.
